Psalm 119:1-48
“I shall run the way of Your commandments, for You will enlarge my heart” (v32). The psalmist wanted, above all else, to walk (and run) on the path of God’s commandments. He understood that the Law was not a collection of rules, but God’s Word – His loving, true, powerful communication to the world. Humans don’t have to fumble blindly in the darkness; God spoke. He told Israel that He loved His creation, and He called them to reject sin and accept His rule of righteousness, justice and peace.
“Revive me through Your righteousness” (v40). God’s ultimate communication, His Word-made-flesh, brought life to a dying world.
