Jeremiah 51-52
“Now the bronze pillars which belonged to the house of the LORD … the Chaldeans broke in pieces and carried all their bronze to Babylon” (52:17). The beautiful city of Jerusalem had been burned. Because all Judah had rejected Him, God had allowed the Babylonians to burn the city and carry away the objects used for Temple worship, which had been joyfully dedicated under Solomon’s reign. All that had been won and built and crafted in Jerusalem was destroyed.
However, God was not finished with His people. Without land or Temple, they could still seek and find the One who “made the earth by His power” (51:15).
