John 7:1-24

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (v24).  Jesus didn’t let anyone get away with easy judgments or shallow criticisms.  He knew that healing on the Sabbath had upset the religious leaders (v23), yet they circumcised on that same day.  Circumcision made a Jewish male complete (well), so why would healing be a problem?  Of course, the real problem was their arrogant attitudes.  Jesus pointed out to the world that “its deeds are evil” (v7).

No one likes their sins uncovered.  But if instead of defending ourselves we confess, we can be forgiven and healed.
