September 24: Proverbs 28

Proverbs 28

“Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive [against] them” (v4).  The proverbs point out that the people of God have responsibilities in community life.  One is helping to define what “justice” is: “those who seek the Lord understand all things” (v5).  The other is refusing to “praise the wicked.”  Instead of admiring those whose only interest is riches (v20), we are called to pursue integrity and generosity (v6,8).

Those who follow Christ do not “shut their eyes” from poverty or suffering, but seek to be agents of His love in the world.
