September 25: Psalm 119:49-150

Psalm 119:49-150

“You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your Word” (v114).  The psalmist had discovered that God’s Word – the knowledge of Himself that He voluntarily gave to Israel – was his defense in an evil world.  God’s Word about what is good, right, and holy gives us a bright path in the darkness.  When life seems pointless and random, God’s declaration that He joyfully made the world and has a redemptive purpose for us gives us significance.

“You are good and do only good” (v68).  Because of this, we can wait patiently for God to fulfill His Word.
