Judges 10-12
"Did you not hate me ...? So why have you come to me now when you are in trouble?" (11:7). Jephthah had been rejected by his family because he was illegimate, but, when danger threatened, they turned to him. He pointed out their inconsistency, and only agreed to help them if they promised to make him leader. When Israel sinned and then called on God, He essentially said the same thing: you rejected Me, so why ask for help now? (10:10-16).
We keep score, but God is forgiving and compassionate: "He could bear the misery of Israel no longer" (v16).
