September 27: Colossians 4

Colossians 4

“Conduct yourself with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of every opportunity” (v5).  Yet again, Paul urges believers to speak and behave with wisdom.  Life for the early church community wasn’t static; it was constantly changing, just as ours does.  Paul had been free and was now in prison; Onesimus had been a slave (Philemon) and now was apparently a free and beloved member of the church in Colosse.

Following Jesus is an adventure.  Only by devoting ourselves to prayer (v3), asking for wisdom, can we see and “make the most of” the open doors and fruitful opportunities in our lives.
