John 9
“If this man were not from God, He could do nothing” (v33). There was great controversy over the healed blind man (v8-12), and he was brought to the Pharisees (v13). Associating with Jesus meant he and his parents faced the possibility of being “put out of the synagogue” (v22), rejected from the religious and social center of life. At first, the healed man stated only facts (v25). However, after being challenged, he courageously claimed that Jesus was “from God”. He finally confessed, “Lord, I believe” (v38).
He was put out of the synagogue (v34). Loss of relationships, mockery, and humiliation – he counted Christ worthy of it all.
