Philippians 2
“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who … emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant …” (v5-7). Jesus is always our model. While selfishness is a basic human weakness, self-giving love is the heart of God. “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself” (v3). Humility is a radical virtue in our me-first culture.
When we imitate humility of the Son, we shine as “lights in the world” in the middle of a “crooked and perverse generation” (v15).
