September 5: Philippians 2:1-12

Philippians 2:1-12

“Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose” (v2).  Paul urged believers to “look out for the interests of others” (v4), even when their interests (desires and goals) don’t coincide with ours.  Even more, within the church, we should be “united in spirit,” because we are all working toward the same purpose.  Our methods and skills may differ, but we share the goal: “that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (v11).

Paul’s words renew our perspective.  United by Christ, we are brothers and sisters, fellow-workers for the King.
