Psalm 118
“From my distress I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me in a large place” (v5). The psalmist was filled with a sense of overwhelming joy and relief at being rescued by God. Danger suddenly looked different: “The Lord is for me; I will not fear, what can man do to me?” (v6). He was filled with a strong confidence because he had personally seen God’s deliverance. Rather than an idea, he said, God “has become my salvation” (v14).
Rescued from death and despair, he was eager to “tell the works of the Lord” (v17).
