September 8: Jeremiah 36-37

Jeremiah 36-37

“Take a scroll and write on it all the words which I have spoken to you concerning Israel …” (36:2). God gave Jeremiah a warning for Israel and Judah.  Jeremiah had no weapons, and he didn’t lead an army.  However, the king and his counselors considered Jeremiah’s preaching (written on the scroll) to be powerful and dangerous.  The scroll was burned, and Jeremiah was imprisoned (ch 37).  The king was not repentant, but he recognized the power of God’s word.

Words can start revolutions, begin and end relationships, harm and heal.  God spoke the world into existence, and His Word is still life-giving.
