II Peter 2-3

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them …” (2:1).  Peter gives us very serious warnings about false teachers, emphasizing that the main problem is not a sinful world (which is to be expected), but so-called followers of Christ who “entice unsteady souls” (2:14) into greed, adultery, and other sins (2:3,10).  The good news is that the Lord is patient toward us and calls us to repentance (3:9).

As we wait and prepare for the new, redeemed world, we are called “to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace” (3:14-15).
