Psalm 108

“That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me!” (v6).  The psalmist cried out for help, trusting that God had declared Israel to be His own beloved people.  “Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter” (v8).  Israel had experienced what is was like to be apart from God because of rebellion, and the psalmist declared: “vain is the salvation of man!” (v12).  But, “with God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes” (v13).

God’s steadfast love and faithfulness won’t fail us (v4).  When we call for help, “it is he who will tread down our foes.”
