Job 38

"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?” (v4).  After Job’s anguished questions, God “answered Job out of the whirlwind” (v1).  God’s rhetorical questions emphasized His handiwork, which we observe and appreciate, and our human smallness.  "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion?… Can you send forth lightnings?” (v31,35). God hinted at the great pleasure He takes in His creation, as at the beginning, “when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy” (v7).

Like Job, we want answers to hard questions.  The foundation of our understanding is a fresh glimpse of God’s sovereignty over everything - the stars, the earth, and us.
