“All the best of the oil and all the best of the wine and of the grain, the firstfruits of what they give to the LORD, I give to you” (v12). The priests, Aaron and his descendants, were responsible for “all that concerns the altar and that is within the veil” (v8), and they were physically sustained by sacrifices and offerings. The Levites served the priests (v23) as guards and caretakers, and they received the tithes (v24) as their portions.
“I am … your inheritance” (v20). The priests and Levites foreshadowed the relationship we now have with God in Christ: He is our inheritance, and we worship Him “within the veil,” giving Him everything and enjoying “all the best” He has for us.
