I Kings 20

"'Because the Syrians have said, "The LORD is a god of the hills but he is not a god of the valleys," therefore I will give all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD " (v28).  In the latter years of King Ahab’s reign over northern Israel, God gave him chances to repent and reform himself.  Syria’s pagan leaders underestimated God (v28), and Ahab could have demonstrated His great power.  However, Ahab chose again to ignore God and follow his own counsel (v39-43).

“You shall know that I am the Lord” (v28).  God wants to demonstrate the reality of His power and mercy, yet our hearts must be open to receive Him.
