“We did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you” (v5). Paul’s mission to the Gentiles faced enormous pressure from “false brothers (v4) – men who claimed to follow Christ but wanted to keep the blessings of salvation exclusively for their own people, the Jews. Thankfully, the leaders of the Jerusalem church (James, Cephas/Peter, John, v9) embraced God’s work among the Gentiles and extended “the right hand of fellowship” to Paul.
“God shows no partiality” (v6). Our belief that God loves and wants to redeem all humanity must be more than words. We who have been included by grace in God’s family must reach out to others.
