Isaiah 34

“For the LORD is enraged against all the nations … He has devoted them to destruction” (v2). Isaiah’s terrifying vision of God’s judgment warned the Israelites of the consequences of sin. God is the only source of life; without His continued favor, the world reverts to chaos and death. “All the host of heaven shall rot away …” The fields, farms, and cities will become a wasteland, “nettles and thistles … the haunt of jackals” (v13). Without God’s grace, the curse takes over.

“Seek and read from the book of the Lord …” (v16). Scripture tells us that when we turn to God in faith, He forgives us and teaches us to walk in the ways that bring life.
